A Psalm A Day

God's--Holiness, Faithfulness, Sovereignty, Greatness, Worth.
Humanity's--Sacrifice, Suffering, Testing, Victories, Triumphs, Rejoicing
If you've read through a Psalm or many, you've read descriptions of all of these and more.

(NOTES from my Hebrew/Greek Key Study Bible)
There are different types of Psalms:
Didactic--give instruction
Messianic--contain prophecy relating to the Messiah
Imprecatory--contain pleas to God for the punishment of the wicked
Penitential--express the feelings of a repentant heart and appeal for divine cleansing.
Degrees or Ascents--sun at the beginning or worship services or sung by those traveling to Jerusalem (likely for a high holiday).
Miktam (Hebrew)--dealing with atonement or covering over sin.

The Psalms are intimately personal and explore the whole realm of human emotion:
from deep despair to ecstatic delight from a yearning for vengeance to a spirit of humility and forgiveness; from earnest pleading with God for protection to jubilant praise for His deliverance.
Throughout the entire book, however, the writers express their serene confidence in God's guidance and provision.
